Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis
This is a condition in which blood vessels within the kidney, called glomeruli, harden. The main function of glomeruli is to filter wastes and pass them out of the body through urine. When this function cannot be performed it can lead to kidney failure. When the kidney cannot function properly due to Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, a kidney transplant must be performed. Most cases of Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis do not have a known cause. This condition may be an effect of other conditions like obesity, diabetes, and drug abuse. The most common signs of Focal Segmental Glomeruloschlerosis are swelling and change in urine consistency.
