Deep Vein Thrombosis

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is the formation of a blood clot (thrombus) in a deep vein. The large veins in the lower leg and thigh are mainly affected. DVTs are most common in adults over the age of 60, however, they can occur at any age. Symptoms include changes in skin color (redness), pain, swelling (edema), and heat.
