Episcleritis (Inflammation of the Whites of the Eye)

Episcleritis refers to inflammation and irritation of the white part of the eye (the sclera). It is a common condition that occurs without an infection. The cause is usually not known. Symptoms include a pink or purple colour to the normally white portion of the eye, eye pain and tenderness, tearing, and sensitivity to light.
