Gingival Hyperplasia

Gingival hyperplasia, also known as gingival enlargement, is an overgrowth of the gum tissues, often occuring in patients treated with phenytoin. Gingival overgrowth is asymptomatic (no symptoms) except for in the presence of poor oral hygiene and dental plaque. In these instances, patients may develop tender and swollen gums.
