Lower Respiratory Tract Infection

A respiratory tract infection is an infection that occurs anywhere in the respiratory tract. The infection may be caused by bacteria, a virus or even fungi. A lower respiratory tract infection affects the trachea (windpipe) and lungs. Bronchitis, croup and pneumonia are all forms of lower respiratory tract infections.
