Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) refers to an infection of the female reproductive organs. The infection generally occurs when sexually transmitted bacteria spread upward from the vagina into the uterus and the fallopian tubes. Signs and symptoms include abnormal vaginal discharge, unusual bleeding, lower abdominal pain, and pain during intercourse. If you are experiencing the severe signs and symptoms of PID, which include fever, vomiting and severe lower abdominal pain, consult a medical practitioner as soon as possible.
