Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate gland. The prostate gland is the small gland located directly below the bladder in men that produces semen. Prostatitis can cause painful or difficult urination. Other symptoms include pain in the groin, pelvic area or genitals. Prostatitis may also be accompanied by flu-like symptoms.
