Reflexes: Positive Babinski Response (Upgoing, Extending Toes)

Scraping an object along the sole of the foot causes the big toe to point up and the other toes to fan out. This is called the Babinki response, or the Babinksi sign. The Babinski sign is often present in infants. A Babinksi response in older children or adults is considered abnormal.
