Skin White Patches (Leucoderma)

Leucoderma, also known as vitiligo, is when a person loses pigment on the skin, resulting in growing patches of whiteness. It often begins in young adulthood. Often, patches occur symmetrically across both sides of the body. Purple or golden brown patches may form around the face, especially around the eyes, nostril and mouth. Leucoderma can be told apart from other white skin patches if it has a dark outline and is irregularly shaped.
